Forward Deployed AI Engineer

Barings is scaling the safe, governed adoption of AI across the firm. As a Forward Deployed AI Engineer (Senior Associate) in the Innovation & Data Insights team, you'll embed directly with Investment, Client & Support teams, learn their workflows first-hand, and build AI-powered solutions that deliver measurable value.

What you'll do

• Scope, prototype and ship production-grade solutions spanning automation, workflow orchestration and client-facing tooling, using AI-native tooling across design, testing and documentation.
• Build custom integrations and workflow automations on Barings' AI platform (including Microsoft Copilot, Studio and Foundry), with connectors to business data sources and document management systems.
• Own the technical relationship with business teams through each engagement, identify high-value AI use cases and build proofs of concept.
• Generalise reusable patterns into platform capabilities with engineering and the AI Platform team.
• Deliver hands-on training, office hours and demos on effective, responsible AI use.

What you bring

• Software engineering experience with daily use of AI-native development tools.
• Ability to turn ambiguous business problems into production code.
• Asset management, financial services or other regulated-industry experience strongly preferred.
