Lead Forward Deployed Engineer

Quanta Services builds energy and communications infrastructure through hundreds of operating companies. The Lead Forward Deployed Engineer is a hands-on technical lead who guides a pod of 2–4 Forward Deployed Engineers delivering AI, application and automation solutions for Quanta's operating companies, from discovery to production.

What you'll do

• Lead a pod through end-to-end delivery of one active project, from problem framing to production hand-off.
• Partner with business leaders and operating-unit stakeholders to shape scope and turn ambiguous needs into testable milestones.
• Write production code yourself, make day-to-day technical decisions and run code reviews and pairing sessions.
• Use AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT) to accelerate delivery, deploy to production and coordinate post-deployment support.
• Mentor FDEs and represent the pod in reviews and demos with Data & AI leadership.

What you bring

• BS/MS in CS, engineering, information systems or related field; 8–12 years in software development, systems integration or technical consulting, including 2+ years as a tech lead.
• Advanced proficiency in a modern language (Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, Go, Java) and solid grounding in architecture, API design and data modeling.
• Fluency in AWS, Azure or GCP plus CI/CD, containers and testing practices.
• Experience applying AI tooling (RAG, vector search, prompt engineering) in real delivery and shipping production software in an embedded setting.
