Target's AI Platform organization builds the foundational capabilities that let teams across Target develop, deploy and operate AI-powered products at enterprise scale. As Principal Engineer for AI Builder Experience and Forward Deployed Engineering, you will provide technical leadership for how engineering teams build, integrate, deploy and operate AI-powered applications.
What you'll do
- Partner directly with product and engineering teams to accelerate complex, high-value AI initiatives, including agentic and LLM-powered applications.
- Establish scalable patterns for model and agent integration, enterprise context, evaluation, observability, deployment and production operations.
- Turn learnings from forward deployed engagements into reusable APIs, SDKs, frameworks, developer tooling, reference architectures and self-service platform capabilities.
- Lead the end-to-end AI developer experience: onboarding, development, experimentation, testing, evaluation, debugging, deployment and observability.
- Influence platform roadmaps and set engineering standards with platform, product, architecture and application teams.
Pay range: $168,000 – $356,000, plus Target benefits. Remote or hybrid; Brooklyn Park, MN or Sunnyvale, CA.
