Enterprise Technology's AI Studio (AI Platforms and Innovation) at UT Austin is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to design, develop and implement AI-powered applications with faculty, staff, researchers and campus partners, turning ideas into production-ready software. Fixed-term position (three years from start date).
What you'll do
- Design, develop, test and deploy AI-powered full-stack applications in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript, including backend services, REST APIs and integrations.
- Integrate models and services from OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft Azure, Google and others; build RAG, agentic workflows, tool calling and structured data processing.
- Implement authentication, authorization and secure data handling when integrating with university systems; write automated tests and take part in code reviews.
- Gather requirements with campus partners, build prototypes and production solutions, and create reusable components and templates.
