Accordion buys Stride and adds about 50 forward deployed engineers to its private equity AI practice
Private-equity-focused finance consultancy Accordion has acquired Stride, an AI software engineering firm whose roughly 50 FDEs build production agentic systems in regulated industries. Accordion plans to pair them with its finance-domain "Forward Deployed Operators" across PE-backed portfolio companies.
Accordion, a New York-based financial consulting firm that works mostly with private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies, announced on October 13 that it has acquired Stride, an AI-powered software engineering firm that builds production agentic systems for clients in healthcare, financial services and other regulated industries. Stride's team of around 50 Forward Deployed Engineers joins Accordion, and Stride's Latin America presence adds to Accordion's delivery teams in North America, Europe and India.
The pitch is a pairing: Stride's FDEs, who have shipped agentic systems inside regulated businesses, will sit alongside what Accordion calls "Forward Deployed Operators", finance people with deep CFO-office experience. Accordion says the combination is meant to get portfolio companies past "pilot purgatory" to AI that moves EBITDA, and that the extra engineering capacity will also speed up its own AI finance products. Stride founder Debbie Madden and CEO Francisco Martin join as managing directors leading AI go-to-market and AI product and engineering.
For FDEs, this is another sign that consultancies are buying forward deployed teams rather than only building them, and that the role is being matched with a domain-expert counterpart. Accordion is already hiring its own FDEs to embed with client finance teams and build agents for FP&A variance analysis, close reporting, forecasting and reconciliation on top of systems like Oracle EPM, OneStream and Anaplan, with 50–80% client travel.
