Anthropic’s Nov 7 FDE board: founding managers in four cities, MCP/agent skills as named deliverables
A 7 November AI Native read of Anthropic’s Greenhouse board found eight Forward Deployed titles—three IC FDEs, one Staff FDE, and four founding FDE Manager roles across NYC, London, Munich and Paris—with Staff base pay listed at $280K–$320K and NYC Manager at $320K–$405K.
On 7 November 2026, AI Native’s Shin Tanaka checked Anthropic’s Greenhouse careers board end-to-end. Of 677 open roles that day, eight titles contained “Forward Deployed”: three IC Forward Deployed Engineer roles (London, Munich, Paris), one Staff Forward Deployed Engineer (NYC / San Francisco / Seattle), and four Manager, Forward Deployed Engineering roles (NYC, London, Munich, Paris).
The IC and Staff postings sit on the Applied AI team and describe embedding with strategic customers to speed adoption of existing products and to build new applications on Claude. Anthropic’s IC ads uniquely name production artifacts—MCP servers, sub-agents and agent skills—as what FDEs deliver. London IC asks for 4+ years; Munich and Paris ask for 8+ years plus native German or French with fluent English. There was no Tokyo FDE posting that day (Tokyo showed Applied AI Architect / pre-sales titles instead), and no non-Staff US IC FDE listing.
Every Manager posting frames the hire as a founding leader—“first FDE Manager” in NYC and London, “first in DACH” in Munich, “first in Southern Europe” in Paris—with no existing playbook. Published base ranges include Staff FDE $280,000–$320,000, NYC Manager $320,000–$405,000, London Manager £255,000–£325,000 and Paris Manager €235,000–€295,000 (base only; equity not listed on Anthropic’s ads). Side-by-side with same-day OpenAI and Palantir postings, Anthropic’s US Manager band overlaps OpenAI’s NYC Manager ($302K–$385K), while Palantir’s commercial FDSE still opens near $135,000–$200,000 with a new-grad track Anthropic does not advertise.
For candidates and hiring managers, the snapshot matters because it shows Anthropic still building the FDE org city by city, measuring success on production artifacts tied to Claude’s agent stack, and keeping Japan on a pre-sales Applied AI Architect path rather than a customer-embedded FDE title.
