Codepresso starts Forward Fellowship, a free seven-week FDE program in Korea, with its first cohort on October 12

Korean edtech company Codepresso and the AXMOS manufacturing-AI consortium have launched Forward Fellowship, a fully funded seven-week program that selects, tests and mentors would-be Forward Deployed Engineers through real enterprise AI projects. Cohort 1 began on 12 October 2026.

Codepresso, working with AXMOS (a manufacturing AI transformation consortium launched in March 2026), has launched Forward Fellowship, which it calls Korea's first global fellowship for training Forward Deployed Engineers. Cohort 1 began on 12 October 2026 and runs seven weeks, ending in a Demo Day in late November. Training, assessment, mentoring and project work are fully funded.

The program is built around selection rather than lectures. Weeks 1–5 combine weekly live online sessions with assignments and competency assessments, plus a Week 3 in-person session at regional hubs (Seoul/Gyeonggi, Jeonbuk, Daegu/Gyeongbuk, Busan/Gyeongnam, and international hubs in Singapore, Austin and Atlanta). Only Fellows who pass move on to two weeks of in-person enterprise AI projects in Seoul. Applicants can come from any major; AI and Python skills help but are not required. Top Fellows may get internship or job matching with Korean partner companies, overseas internships, and support for Codepresso's CP-FDE certificate, which Codepresso notes is a privately registered qualification, not a national one.

For FDEs, this shows that the talent shortage is now being tackled outside the big AI labs as well. Codepresso cites Korean companies such as MakinaRocks, CJ Olive Young, Superb AI and Allganize Korea as having adopted or started building FDE roles, and Fellows' sample projects (receipt reconciliation, automated portfolio reporting, support-inquiry automation) are the kind of end-to-end workflow work that junior FDE roles increasingly involve. Similar programs include Anthropic's Claude Frontier Academy and Devoteam's FDE certification, which began the same day.
