Coforge calls its Momentuum Blue unit a "forward deployed engineer factory" as it puts FDEs at the centre of its AI growth plan
In its Q2 FY27 results on Oct 23, Indian IT services firm Coforge said its Momentuum Blue FDE unit embeds engineers inside client teams, that it joined AWS's Forward Deployed Engineer pilot in September, and that it is investing heavily to build an on-site FDE "factory". A Coforge investor deck puts the pool at 150+ FDEs (about 40 senior, 110 associate) across 30+ concurrent engagements.
Coforge, India's seventh-largest IT services company, used its Q2 FY27 earnings call on October 23 to put forward deployed engineering front and centre. Management described Momentuum Blue, launched in July, as its dedicated FDE unit: FDEs work inside client teams to build and prove AI solutions, then hybrid human-and-agent "Mod Squads" scale them across the enterprise. The company also said it joined the AWS Forward Deployed Engineer pilot in September and that AWS is investing with it to grow that footprint.
CEO Sudhir Singh called Momentuum Blue "the forward deployed engineer factory that we are building" on-site, and said Coforge is putting a very high level of investment into it, expecting a lift in consolidated gross margin from Q4. A Coforge investor presentation on AI delivery sizes the pool at 150+ specialised FDEs, roughly 40 senior FDEs leading about 110 associate FDEs in paired pods, with Princeton as the first anchor hub and 30+ concurrent engagements.
For FDEs, this is another sign that large IT services firms are building their own FDE career tracks, not just reselling vendor FDE time. Coforge's two-tier senior/associate structure gives a clear entry point for engineers moving up from delivery roles, and its pitch, that FDEs "stand behind results" rather than billing hours, shows how services firms are tying the role to outcome-based work.
