Commerce Robotics launches an FDE service that closes ERP fit-and-gap holes with n8n and AI agents
Tokyo-based Commerce Robotics, maker of the SME cloud ERP eerp, now sends forward deployed engineers into customer operations to automate the processes its ERP doesn't fit, using n8n workflows and AI agents instead of customizing the ERP itself.
Commerce Robotics, the Tokyo company behind the small-business cloud ERP eerp, started offering a forward deployed engineering service called "eerp 外付けカスタマイズ" (bolt-on customization) on October 20. Its FDE team, built around three certified n8n creators, goes into a customer's operations, inventories the work that eerp's standard features don't cover, and then designs, builds and embeds automations for those gaps.
The pitch is to leave the ERP core untouched. Gaps are handled first through standard settings, then through changes to operating rules, and only then with n8n workflows that connect eerp's APIs to email, Teams, Slack, spreadsheets and accounting software, with generative AI reading documents and drafting entries inside those workflows. Sensitive data can go to local AI models that keep it in-house, and every AI output is treated as a draft that a staff member approves. Engagements start with one workflow, built on production-like data in about four weeks, and are priced per workflow plus monthly support.
For FDEs, it's another sign of how far the title has spread beyond AI labs: a mid-size SaaS vendor is using it to describe engineers who sit with small-business customers and own a problem from discovery to adoption. The skills it emphasizes are practical ones, such as workflow automation, API integration, human-in-the-loop AI design and knowing when not to customize.
