Commure's Forward Deployed Engineering team helped Compassus cut referral decision time by 64%

On October 13, Commure said its FDEs co-built Orchestrator with home-based care provider Compassus. The system is live across 79 programs in 19 states, processes more than 500,000 referrals a year, and has cut time from referral to decision by 64%.

Commure announced on October 13 that its Forward Deployed Engineering team worked with Compassus, a national home health, palliative, infusion and hospice provider, to co-build Commure Orchestrator for referral intake. The platform is live across 79 Compassus programs in 19 states, supports more than 1,400 team members, and processes over 500,000 referrals a year.

According to the companies, referral decisions are now 64% faster, missed referrals fell 22% in the longest-running states, admissions rose 6%, and processing time dropped from about an hour to under 10 minutes. Commure President of Enterprise Dan Warner said Compassus replaced fax-heavy post-acute handoffs by working "shoulder-to-shoulder with our Forward Deployed Engineering team" to put autonomous referral agents into production.

For FDEs, this is a concrete deployment outcome story: six months of joint workflow design before go-live, then a national rollout that ties field engineering to measurable operational metrics rather than a pilot demo. Commure also describes itself as running a forward-deployed model across 500+ healthcare organizations.
