Datatonic launches a dedicated global FDE practice for Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise
London-based Datatonic, a 12-time Google Cloud Partner of the Year, announced on October 14 a dedicated global Forward Deployed Engineer practice that embeds its engineers with client teams to take Gemini Enterprise agent workflows from experiments into production.
Datatonic, a cloud data and AI consultancy that has been named Google Cloud Partner of the Year 12 times, announced on October 14, 2026 that it is expanding its Gemini Enterprise practice with a dedicated, global Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) practice. The firm says the goal is to help large organisations close the gap between generative AI experiments and agentic workflows running inside core business processes.
The practice is built around three pieces: a "Velocity Library" of 30+ pre-built accelerators and 40+ skills that Datatonic says cuts deployment time by up to 40%; an end-to-end agentic delivery framework paired with updated Datatonic Academy training for client teams; and an "evolved" FDE delivery model of engineers embedded with customers, supported by an ML engineering acceleration program and a team with a 95% Google Cloud certification rate.
CEO Scott Eivers said the shift to agentic AI needs a different delivery approach from the firm's earlier Gemini Enterprise work, pairing forward-deployed engineers with reusable accelerators and training so enterprises can move from first experiments to production-grade workflows.
Why it matters for FDEs: Google Cloud partners are now forming FDE practices around a single vendor platform, as Salesforce and AWS partners already have. That creates more FDE roles at consultancies, not only at AI labs. For candidates it also means Google Cloud certification and hands-on Gemini Enterprise agent work count for more, alongside the usual customer-facing engineering skills.
