ElevenLabs ships synthetic voice detection first to customers its forward deployed engineers support

ElevenLabs' new feature, which flags whether a caller's voice is human or AI-generated within the first few seconds of a call, is live only for enterprise customers supported by its Forward Deployed Engineering team. A wider enterprise rollout is planned for later in October.

ElevenLabs has added synthetic voice detection to ElevenAgents, its platform for voice and text AI agents. The feature listens to a caller's speech in the first few seconds of a call and returns a verdict of human or AI-generated. Businesses then decide what happens next, such as sending machine callers to a bounded agent or blocking a synthetic voice that asks for a sensitive change like a password reset.

For now, the feature is available only to enterprise customers supported by ElevenLabs' Forward Deployed Engineering team. The company says it will reach a broader group of enterprise customers as a configurable option later this month. ElevenLabs also joined the Personal Agent Protocol working group, led by Meta and Sierra, as a design partner.

Why it matters for FDEs: vendors are using their forward deployed teams as the first channel for new, sensitive capabilities, so FDEs end up shaping routing and authentication rules with customers before a feature becomes self-serve. ElevenLabs says its FDE engagements typically go from scoping to live deployment in four to eight weeks.
