Evergreen's Lyra Technology Group launches FDE program to embed 50+ engineers inside MSPs

Lyra Technology Group, an Evergreen company, will place more than 50 forward deployed engineers inside its managed service providers by the end of 2027 to bring practical AI to small and mid-sized businesses. Sixteen are already embedded across eight MSPs.

Lyra Technology Group, part of Evergreen, announced a Forward-Deployed Engineer program on November 4. It plans to place over 50 engineers inside the managed service providers (MSPs) it owns by the end of 2027, with 16 already embedded across eight MSPs.

Each engineer works full time at a single MSP, helping it build a managed AI practice and working directly with that MSP's customers to understand their operations, find manual work worth automating, and implement solutions. Lyra says the MSPs in Evergreen's portfolio serve more than 15,000 businesses worldwide, and credits Evergreen's permanent-capital ownership model with making an investment at this scale possible.

Why it matters for FDEs: the model is spreading beyond AI labs and enterprise software into IT services for smaller businesses, a segment that usually has no in-house engineering team. That opens a new kind of FDE seat, one embedded in a service provider and spread across many small customers rather than a few large accounts.
