EXL acquires Aimpoint Digital to expand its forward-deployed AI engineering bench by ~250 people

On Nov 5, EXL (NASDAQ: EXLS) said it acquired Aimpoint Digital, a data and AI consulting firm, adding about 250 AI engineers, platform architects and strategists to deepen its forward-deployed AI capabilities across Anthropic, Databricks and Snowflake platforms. Financial terms were not disclosed.

EXL, the New York–listed data and AI company, announced on November 5, 2026 that it has acquired Aimpoint Digital, a data and AI consulting and platform engineering firm. Financial terms were not disclosed. Aimpoint is known for moving enterprise workloads onto platforms from partners such as Anthropic, Databricks and Snowflake.

EXL said the deal adds roughly 250 experienced AI engineers, platform architects, analytics consultants, decision scientists and AI strategists, expanding its forward-deployed talent base and putting senior AI expertise closer to client teams. Chairman and CEO Rohit Kapoor framed Aimpoint’s “forward-deployed strategists and engineers” as the hands-on layer that turns AI strategy into production on platforms clients already trust, while Aimpoint CEO and cofounder Ben Yopp said joining EXL lets that engineering talent run at larger scale with EXL’s industry reach and managed-operations capacity.

Why it matters for FDEs: EXL is explicitly buying a forward-deployed delivery bench, not just a product. The company says the combination covers strategy through architecture, engineering, production deployment and managed AI operations — the same end-to-end loop FDEs own — and follows its August 2026 acquisition of iMerit for model training and evaluation. For engineers watching who is staffing embedded AI work, this is another large services player assembling dedicated forward-deployed capacity rather than competing only for scarce individual FDE hires.
