FDE Times: Snowflake pays FDEs on three salary bands across two tracks
A 6 November FDE Times analysis of public Snowflake FDE postings finds Applied AI base pay at $126k–$181.7k, Senior Spark at $200k–$287.5k, and Lead Migration at $236k–$339.25k—and warns that only same-track comparisons separate seniority from track.
FDE Times compared three public Snowflake Forward Deployed Engineer base-salary bands as of September 2026: Applied AI FDE at $126k–$181.7k (Cortex AI / agents, Menlo Park), Senior FDE (Spark migration) at about $200k–$287.5k, and Lead Migration FDE at $236k–$339.25k plus equity. The entire Applied AI band sits below the Senior Spark floor—but those roles differ in both seniority and track, so the gap alone does not prove “data pays more than AI.”
The only clean seniority step in the data is Senior Spark → Lead Migration on the same track: the floor rises by $36k and the ceiling by about $52k. Aggregators disagree slightly on ceilings, postings disappear quickly (Built In removed the Senior and Lead listings in late October), and all figures are base only—equity is extra and total compensation is not disclosed.
For FDEs choosing a track, the practical takeaway is to compare bands at the same seniority word first, then across tracks; ask recruiters about equity early; and mirror the posting’s language on a CV (agents + measured outcomes for Applied AI, data-model before/after and rollback for migration).
