Google Cloud opens Forward Deployed Engineering internships for 2027 in the US, London and Singapore

Google Cloud Consulting has posted FDE internships for students, including a 12-week Summer 2027 role in Sunnyvale and New York that pays $98K–$131K annualized. It is one of the few entry points into a field where most postings ask for years of experience.

Google Cloud Consulting has opened Forward Deployed Engineering internships for 2027. The US role, Forward Deployed Engineering Intern, BS/MS, Summer 2027, is based in Sunnyvale or New York, runs for 12 weeks, and lists pay of $98,000–$131,000 annualized. Google also has an EMEA FDE internship in London for students enrolled in the region and a Forward Deployed Engineer Intern role in Singapore.

The postings describe the same job as Google's full-time FDEs. Interns work with customers as "embedded builders": they take agentic AI from prototype to production inside the customer's environment, connect Google's AI products to the customer's APIs, legacy data and security perimeters, and build evaluation and observability pipelines. They are also expected to turn repeated problems they hit in the field into reusable modules or product requests.

The listed requirements are demanding for interns. They include Python, experience with production AI on a cloud platform, and RAG/vector-database pipelines. Multi-agent frameworks such as LangGraph, CrewAI or ADK, along with experience leading technical discovery, are listed as preferred.

Why it matters: entry-level FDE openings are rare, and most postings ask for several years of experience. A structured internship at a hyperscaler gives students a direct route into customer-facing deployment work, and it suggests Google wants to grow its own FDE pipeline instead of only hiring experienced engineers.
