Hg and Anthropic confirm a new European AI transformation company built on Claude and forward deployed engineers
Hg announced on November 3 that it will invest, with participation from Anthropic and angel investors, in a new independent company that helps European businesses adopt AI using Claude and forward deployed engineers. Terms were not disclosed, and the company is due to formally launch later this year.
Private equity firm Hg said on November 3, in a stock exchange announcement from HgCapital Trust, that it has agreed to invest in a new AI transformation company, with participation from Anthropic and angel investors. The company will be an independent entity that works with organisations on AI adoption and AI-native product builds, moving them beyond pilots to measurable operational impact. It will build on Claude and work with forward deployed engineers. Financial terms were not disclosed, and neither the company's name nor its leadership has been announced.
The venture is aimed squarely at Europe, focusing on businesses with distinctive IP and long-standing customer relationships that operate across many languages and regulatory regimes. HgCapital Trust will invest alongside other Hg clients through its Saturn Fund and as a direct co-investor. Anthropic's head of global business development and partnerships, Steve Corfield, said businesses are looking for experienced teams to help them put Claude to work.
Why it matters for FDEs: this confirms what was first reported in late October and adds a European, Claude-focused deployment shop to the growing list of lab-backed FDE companies alongside OpenAI's Deployment Company and Anthropic's US services venture. Once it launches, expect forward deployed roles in Europe that serve software and services companies, with multilingual and regulatory experience likely to count.
