Japan's Knowledge Communication launches an FDE-style AI adoption service
Chiba-based cloud and AI integrator Knowledge Communication has launched a Forward Deployed Engineer-style service that takes clients from finding AI use cases through AI agent production rollout and continuous improvement.
Knowledge Communication, a Japanese cloud and AI consultancy that works with AWS, Microsoft Azure and Databricks, announced on October 21 a new "FDE-style AI adoption support service." A dedicated team of AI, data and cloud engineers plus consultants works closely with a client's business staff to identify problems worth solving with AI, organize internal data and know-how into an AI-ready knowledge base, build AI agents, take them to production, and keep tuning them after launch.
The company says it picks the platform per client, including its own Narecom AI Platform, Microsoft Foundry, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, Amazon Bedrock and Databricks. A typical engagement runs a 2–4 week assessment, one to two months of prototyping and validation, and reaches first production use in roughly two to four months. Pricing is quoted per project.
Notably, the release defines "FDE-style" as more than placing engineers on site: with or without being embedded, the team is expected to understand the client's processes, systems and decision criteria and stay close to the customer from problem discovery through post-launch improvement. It is one of several Japanese integrators this month rebranding AI delivery around the FDE model, a sign that the role is spreading well beyond US AI labs into regional systems integrators.
