Korea's Big Value forms an AX Division with forward deployed engineers to target the public sector

Data technology company Big Value set up a new AX Division staffed with forward deployed engineers and forward deployed data scientists who will work on-site with public-sector clients to get their data ready for AI.

South Korean data technology company Big Value announced on November 4 that it has created an AX Division bringing together data and AI specialists, aimed at the public sector. The division includes Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) and Forward Deployed Data Scientists (FDDS) who will work closely with clients to define problems, validate solutions through on-site consulting, prepare data for AI and run proofs of concept before connecting results to main projects.

The work starts with the company's AI-Ready Fair Data Diagnosis, an assessment of roughly four weeks modeled on the FAIR data principles (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable), after which Big Value presents improvement priorities. Aju Press reports that more than 70% of the company's staff are data and AI specialists.

Why it matters for FDEs: the forward deployed model is spreading beyond AI labs into data firms and government work, and the pairing of FDEs with forward deployed data scientists shows the role branching into data-readiness work that often comes before any model is deployed.
