NiCE says its forward deployed engineering team is fully staffed and engagements are ramping

On its Q3 2026 earnings call on Nov 4, contact-center software maker NiCE said it has fully staffed its FDE team since the end of Q2, using targeted forward deployed engineering engagements to turn a growing AI backlog into production deployments.

NiCE, the contact-center software company behind CXone and the Cognigy conversational AI platform, told investors on its Q3 2026 earnings call (Nov 4) that it has fully staffed its forward deployed engineering team since the end of the second quarter and that FDE engagements are "ramping significantly."

CEO Scott Russell described FDEs as one of three levers for getting customers from first deployment to broad adoption, alongside partner certifications and product work from NiCE Labs. The company said AI ARR grew 46% year over year to 16% of cloud revenue and its AI backlog grew about 40%, so the goal is converting that demand into live deployments faster. Russell called the move to forward deployed engineers a significant shift in NiCE's go-to-market, while noting the financial results of that investment have not shown up yet.

Why it matters for FDEs: this is another established public software vendor, not an AI-native startup, treating forward deployed engineering as a core part of how it sells and delivers AI. For engineers, it signals FDE demand spreading into enterprise CX and contact-center software, where the job is getting AI agents working inside large customers' existing systems.
