NIQ adds Mars to its ConnectAI program, with forward-deployed engineers embedding consumer data into Mars' AI workflows
NielsenIQ said on Oct 22 that Mars has joined its ConnectAI Charter Program, where NIQ forward-deployed engineers and data scientists work inside client teams to wire NIQ data, models and business context into their AI systems.
NielsenIQ (NIQ), the consumer intelligence company, announced on October 22, 2026 that Mars is the latest client in its ConnectAI Charter Program. Under the program, NIQ's forward-deployed engineers and data scientists work alongside the client's own teams to connect NIQ data, models and business context to the client's AI environment, configuring workflows such as agents around specific business priorities.
With Mars, the first use cases are conversational analytics and harmonized product data. Mars' chief digital and information officer Rishi Padhi said the company is exploring NIQ's Optiq Bridge, data harmonization and semantic layer as a foundation for AI-enabled workflows, with possible uses in demand forecasting. NIQ says the model is meant to produce repeatable platform services that adapt to each client's environment, and that it plans to add more brands and retailers to the program.
Why it matters for FDEs: this is another sign that the forward-deployed model has spread beyond AI labs and software vendors to data providers. Here the FDE work is less about a model and more about data plumbing: getting a vendor's proprietary datasets, definitions and semantic layer to work inside a customer's AI stack. Engineers with strong data engineering and analytics backgrounds should watch for FDE and forward-deployed data science roles at data and information companies like NIQ.
