Saronic’s Nov 6 FDE board: nine Austin/San Diego on-site seats spanning software, build and hardware, Build travel 50–70%
A 6 November FDE Dispatch read of Saronic’s Ashby board found nine Forward Deployed engineer seats—all on-site in Austin and/or San Diego—mixing software, build, electrical, hardware, mechanical and a Summer 2027 intern, with Software travel up to 50% and Build at 50–70%, and no numeric salary ranges posted.
FDE Dispatch’s 6 November live check of Saronic’s public Ashby board, built on its 3 November snapshot, counted nine Forward Deployed engineer-family postings—tied for 12th of 114 employers with Chalk, Cloudflare and Snowflake. All nine were still listed among 269 jobs on the board. There are no strategist or management titles in the set.
Tracks mix software and hardware under a Forward Deployable Eng department: Forward Deployed Software Engineer (Austin and San Diego), Senior Forward Deployed Software Engineer (Austin), Forward Deployed Build Engineer (Austin), Electrical / Hardware / Mechanical Forward Deployed seats (Austin with San Diego secondary on some), plus a Forward Deployed Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 in Austin. Ashby labels every seat on-site; under FDE Dispatch’s remote index, 0 of 9 are remote.
Software Engineer seats ask for strong C++, Rust or Python skills and state travel up to 50% for field testing of ASV systems; the Build Engineer states travel typically 50–70%. Electrical, Hardware and Mechanical ask for 3+ years on fielded electromechanical systems; Senior Software asks for 5+ years in autonomy or robotics. None of the nine post a numeric salary range; eight non-intern texts mention equity options without grant sizes. All nine include a U.S. Person / export-controlled information block, without naming Secret or TS/SCI clearance.
For FDEs, Saronic is a maritime autonomy board where “forward deployed” means time on boats and test sites—not remote LLM delivery—so candidates should weigh the on-site Austin/San Diego requirement and high travel bands before treating it like a typical enterprise AI FDE seat.
