Terminal acquires Miami AI startup Stationed to launch Terminal AI, a forward-deployed engineering division for midmarket firms

Terminal, the engineering company co-founded by Joe Lonsdale, Jack Abraham and CEO Dylan Serota, has bought Stationed and made it the core of Terminal AI, which will send forward-deployed engineers into midmarket companies. The division has about 10 people and 10 more open roles in Miami.

Terminal, a global engineering company founded in 2017 by Palantir and 8VC co-founder Joe Lonsdale, Atomic founder Jack Abraham and CEO Dylan Serota, has acquired Stationed, a Miami AI startup started by Miami Hack Week founder Ja'dan Johnson. Refresh Miami reported the deal on October 22, 2026.

Stationed becomes the foundation of Terminal AI, a new division led by Johnson. Instead of advising clients on what AI could do, Terminal AI will place forward-deployed engineers inside companies to find opportunities, automate processes and wire AI agents into day-to-day operations. Stationed had already deployed agents for businesses across several industries, and Terminal brings its existing infrastructure for recruiting and managing engineering talent.

The division has roughly 10 employees and another 10 positions open, and it is recruiting engineers to work from its Wynwood office in Miami. Johnson says the focus is midmarket businesses, which he thinks have had little attention in the enterprise AI conversation.

For FDEs, it is another sign the Palantir-style deployment model is moving down-market: midmarket companies that can't build in-house AI teams are becoming a new source of embedded engineering roles, here in an in-person Miami team rather than a big-tech office.
