Accenture and Google Cloud form new group with a 1,000-person FDE workforce
Accenture and Google Cloud launched the Accenture Gemini Enterprise Business Group, which will establish a 1,000-person forward deployed engineer workforce to help clients put Gemini Enterprise agentic AI into production.
Accenture and Google Cloud have launched the Accenture Gemini Enterprise Business Group, a new global unit within the existing Accenture Google Business Group. The companies describe it as a significant joint investment that combines Accenture's Gemini Enterprise-certified professionals, forward deployed engineers, specialized Google Cloud engineering talent and Accenture's industry expertise.
A central piece of the plan is a 1,000-person FDE workforce. The group builds on Accenture's nearly 50,000 Google Cloud-skilled professionals and will expand Gemini Enterprise training and certification. The Wall Street Journal reported that Google Cloud will help train these engineers, who will work on-site with clients to plan and build AI applications.
For FDEs, this shows the role spreading beyond AI labs and software vendors into the large systems integrators, which can hire at scale. It also means consulting firms are a growing route into FDE work, especially for engineers who want to specialize in one vendor's platform and work across many industries.
