FDE pay in Singapore: demand is well documented, but most salary tables are borrowed from other jobs
An October 20 FDE Times analysis finds that OpenAI, Singtel and Field AI have all advertised Forward Deployed Engineer roles in Singapore, yet none listed pay. The widely quoted S$7,000–25,000 a month range comes from a staffing firm's machine learning engineer bands, and the only figure from a real ad is S$7K a month for a mid-level role.
FDE Times looked at the evidence behind Singapore Forward Deployed Engineer salary figures. Demand is real. OpenAI advertised a Singapore FDE role that asked for at least four years of experience and up to 50% travel. Singtel posted an FDE ad in May 2026. Field AI's Singapore role is on-site with its Autonomy team and owns end-to-end deployment of autonomous systems at customers. The Straits Times also reported in June that demand for the role is rising fast.
Pay is a different story. None of those three ads lists a salary. A staffing firm's widely circulated S$7,000–25,000 a month range is borrowed from its own machine learning engineer bands rather than measured from FDE pay, and it covers base salary only. The one figure taken from a real ad, a mid-level Hiverlab role listed on an aggregator at S$7K a month, sits right at the floor of that firm's junior band.
For FDEs in Asia-Pacific, the takeaway is to treat salary tables as hypotheses, not market rates. When comparing roles that share the FDE title, look at the travel share, on-site requirements, minimum experience and deployment domain (LLM software versus robots in the field). Ask the recruiter for the range on the first call, before you name your own number.
