Traversal raises $120M at a $1B valuation and is hiring forward deployed engineers for its AI SRE
AI site reliability startup Traversal closed a $120M Series B co-led by Kleiner Perkins, Redpoint and Khosla, and plans to hire across research, engineering and go-to-market, including a New York FDE role that tunes its agent inside customer environments.
Traversal, a New York startup building AI agents that diagnose, remediate and prevent production incidents, announced a $120 million Series B at a $1 billion valuation on November 3. Kleiner Perkins, Redpoint Ventures and Khosla Ventures co-led the round, with Sequoia, Battery Ventures and Amex Ventures participating, bringing total funding to $173 million.
The company says its ARR has grown about 9x this year, and customers including PepsiCo, Nubank, Harvey and DigitalOcean ran more than 150,000 investigations last quarter. Traversal says it will use the money to hire across research, engineering and go-to-market.
Why it matters for FDEs: Traversal's open roles include an AI Engineer - Forward Deployed Engineer position in New York ($200k–$275k plus equity) that owns last-mile delivery for strategic customers, tuning its agent directly in their production environments and feeding what it learns back into the roadmap. It's another sign that agent companies selling into complex enterprise infrastructure are treating forward deployed engineering as a core function, not an add-on.
