Anthropic commits $100M to train 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers

Anthropic launched Claude Frontier Academy, a $100 million program that aims to train 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers at customers and partners by the end of 2027, starting with cohorts from Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Deloitte, McKinsey and others.

Anthropic has launched Claude Frontier Academy, backed by a $100 million commitment, with the goal of training 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers (FDEs) by the end of 2027. The first cohorts include engineers from Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley and Novo Nordisk, and are running in San Francisco, New York and London.

The flagship program, the Frontier Deployed Engineer Residency, is modeled on medical training. Nominated engineers start with a multi-day in-person program and a simulated enterprise deployment, from picking the use case through security review to handover, followed by a graded practical. Those who pass move into a 12-week residency leading a real Claude project at their own organization, and a final assessment earns a Claude Frontier Deployed Engineer badge, with the first expected in early 2027.

For FDEs, this is a sign that the role is being formalized into a credential that consultancies and large enterprises can staff against. It also signals where demand is heading: Anthropic is betting that the scarce resource in enterprise AI is engineers who can take a model from idea to production inside a real business, and it is building that bench inside its customers and partners rather than only on its own payroll.
