A10X Brief №13: Salesforce lists 60 FDE postings, AWS splits the title across five teams, and Wonderful closed Spain, Portugal and Vietnam in a week
On 5 November A10X read employer careers boards and found Salesforce with 60 Forward Deployed Engineer postings (55 filed under Sales, one band spanning $89K–$288K), Amazon with 57 FDE engineering postings across five distinct teams, and Wonderful dropping FDE roles in Spain, Portugal and Vietnam while relaxing Zurich’s German requirement.
The weekly A10X Brief for week 46 of 2026 pulls three changes from careers sites on 5 November, each aimed at people interviewing for Forward Deployed Engineer roles.
Salesforce’s board showed 60 FDE postings, 43 posted since 1 October, with 51 outside the US across 26 countries. Fifty-five sit under Sales and five under Software. Printed US pay depends on the experience line: 2+ years (MTS) at $117K–$177K base ($141K–$194K in San Francisco and New York), a main 3+ years posting that spans $89K–$288K (up to $317K in California, New York and several metros), and Lead MTS at $173K–$260K. Outside the US only Italy and Toronto print bands. A10X notes that a range that wide is several levels in one posting, so the interview sets the level before pay talks begin; 27 of the 60 call customer-facing delivery a requirement, and 40 expect about 25% travel.
On amazon.jobs, 57 FDE engineering postings split into five tracks under one title: Core FDE (32, many asking for agentic and spec-driven work), US Government (9, all TS/SCI), Model customization (5, multi-node LLM post-training), Security FDE (5), and a separate Forward Deployment Engineering team (6, mostly 5+ years with mentoring). The brief’s point for candidates is that preparing for “the AWS FDE interview” without naming the team is preparing for a job that does not exist.
Wonderful’s Ashby board fell from 39 FDE requisitions in 38 markets (28 October) to 36 in 35 markets: Spain, Portugal and Vietnam closed, while Zurich dropped its C2 German bar for English plus a preference for German or French. A10X’s own board moved from 372 to 355 default-view FDE roles between 2 and 5 November. For FDEs the through-line is simple: read the level for pay, the team for the work, and the date to see whether the role is still open.
